Program Manager, Iran Programs

NetFreedom Pioneers is seeking a driven and organized Persian and English speaking candidate to join our team as our Program Manager for our Iran Programs. The Program Manager will manage two Iran focused technology programs to advance social change, involving information access challenges and gender equality issues in the region. Responsibilities for this role will include the supervision and implementation of assigned programs, translating activities into milestones, allocating capacity and resources, tracking progress, and liaising with partners and local communities to tackle information access challenges. This role will report to the Executive Vice President of Programs, and work in close coordination with NFP’s technology and engineering team.

YOUR DAY TO DAY

Your responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Oversee the assigned portfolio of programs – project management, staffing, monitoring, analysis, procurement, stakeholder coordination, and resource allocation
  • Manage program related staff and contractors, including program coordinators and technical coordinators
  • Develop detailed and actionable plans for the program, turning goals into activities, and activities into milestones
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with program partners, enabling coordination among parties for the successful implementation of the program
  • Suggest new ideas and solutions for the assigned programs, and contribute to new program development
  • Oversee all administrative aspects of the program and ensure program implementation complies with funder requirements and the NetFreedom Pioneers policies and procedures, in coordination with the Sr. Grants/Compliance Manager
  • Manage program reporting, ensuring the appropriate compilation and presentation of relevant information as pertaining to quarterly reports and work plans
  • Represent the team and NetFreedom Pioneers at conferences and events, as needed

  • You are passionate about technology and digital rights
  • You have a good understanding of the digital rights context in the MENA region, and are part of and in touch with different networks in the region
  • You are an adaptable, and well-organized systematic thinker
  • You have excellent people and communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 4-6 years of experience in managing projects and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in English and Persian
  • Proven track record of teamwork at nonprofit organizations
  • Experience working in multicultural environments and teams, and strong cross-cultural communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple ongoing assignments
  • Ability to work independently and deliver tasks on deadline

Nice to have

  • A nonprofit industry background, preferably with an Internet Freedom or international development organization
  • Experience with social impact, technology, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation and/or knowledge management desired
